Christmas Craft Tutorial: Candy Shaker Ornaments

by - Tuesday, November 24, 2009

As promised, I'm back with a Christmas craft! This is a candy shaker ornament which you can easily make in a jiffy. You can use this as a place holder for your holiday dinner parties or hang on a Christmas favor tree. What's more, the container is re-usable too!

Materials:

  • Inexpensive salt and pepper shakers (clear glass variety)
  • Plastic wrap
  • Gold ribbon/twine
  • Thin ribbons holiday colors and motifs
  • Assorted tiny candies and non pareils in holiday shapes (cinnamon hots, sprinkles, M&Ms etc)
  • Handmade tags

Directions:

1.Empty tiny candies into a salt and pepper shaker. Seal off the top with cling wrap (measure the diameter of the top and cut to fit ). Attach gold ribbon/twine onto the lid of the shaker. You can easily insert a gold twine inside the holes of the lid.

2. Attach a ribbon around the shaker. You may embellish it some more if you like with tiny bells or ornaments.

3. Attach a handmade tag with the recipient's name.

Shake it! Happy crafty holidays!
