Lily Fairy Dolly & lovely mail from Brazil

This is one of the most adorable doll patterns I've tested! It's a Lily Marlene Doll from Smooch Design. After I finished hand sewing the dolly, I planted a little kiss on her tiny doll cheeks and named her my Lily Fairy Dolly. Hope she grants me sparkly fairy wishes!

If you want to make your own, check out the tutorial here.

Guess what arrived today? A special Christmas giveaway prize that I won from Thalita's first Christmas giveaway last December! I'm so glad it finally arrived. This lovely print almost got lost in transit. Imagine Thalita's surprise and horror when it actually arrived...on her door! Silly mail glitch got fixed and now this lovely Christmas prize will be framed and displayed by me all year long! Muito obrigada Thalita! Thank you very much Thalita! Check out Thalita's self-titled blog about life, love, crafts and illustrations!

Are you a Jackie or a Marilyn?

I don't have anything crafty to show or share today so I'm sharing a fun quiz from Hello Quizzy! You can take the quiz on the bottom of this blog post.

You are an Audrey -- "I am at peace"

How to Get Along with Me

* If you want me to do something, how you ask is important. I especially don't like expectations or pressure
* I like to listen and to be of service, but don't take advantage of this
* Listen until I finish speaking, even though I meander a bit
* Give me time to finish things and make decisions. It's OK to nudge me gently and nonjudgmentally
* Ask me questions to help me get clear
* Tell me when you like how I look. I'm not averse to flattery
* Hug me, show physical affection. It opens me up to my feelings
* I like a good discussion …

Happy needle and some blog awards

My sewing kit, a recycled Cadbury chocolate metal tin box always looks like a mess with bits and pieces of embroidery floss all clumped up like dog fur! Quite a frustrating sight to behold since I have to untangle a rainbow of thread before I get to start stitching anything. Anyway, I found this lovely organizing idea from this neat brazilian craft blog. There is a cute spool template that one can fashion into a felt spool. I made some from plain cardboard. Now my unruly embroidery flosses look quite a bit organised.

I also received some cute blog awards lately! Thank you to Penny of Sewtakeahike and Suzie of Littlebusybee for the Kreative Blogger Award.

The lovely Clare of Clare's Craftroom also gave me a Lemomade Award! Thank you Clare!

I would love to share these two awards to the following inspiring, crafty ladies:

1. Cindy of Lucy's Tales from Home
2. Sonia of Cozy Homemaking
3. Suzanne of Create Fun & Mess
4. Chelsea Ann of Itty Bitty Birdy
5. Jojoebi of A Bit of This …

Gardening the soul and lovely bookmarks

I made some lovely heart bookmarks from Larissa's wonderful love you bookmark tutorial. They turned out so easy and sweet! Now I have some bookmarks hugging a page or two from the book Gardening the Soul: Soothing Seasonal Thoughts for Jaded Modern Souls by Sister Stan.

Here are some of my favourite thoughts from the book:

9 February

The earth speaks in magic, but only to those who can hear their hearts. It's voice is in the stark shape of a leafless twig against the winter sky, the touch of a water-worn stone, the colour of the sunset, the smell of the rain on earth, the sound of the night wind. The earth's whispers are everywhere, but only those who have dreamt with the earth can hear them.

My soul can find no staircase to heaven unless it be through earth's loveliness.

Mail love and embroidered treasures

Look what I received in the mail today! It's a lovely Monique Dalton Boys Toys Kit that I won from Janelle and Kylie of Threads of Friendship! They recently had a Celebration Giveaway and I was so lucky to win these awesome patterns. Visit Janelle and Kylie's super cozy blog and enjoy their lovely handmade quilts and sewing creations. Please drop by and say hi!

The pattern kits and a lovely handwritten card were prettily wrapped in a beautiful mint blue and chocolate heart fabric. Thank you Janelle and Kylie! I will post the projects as soon as I complete them.

I've also been reading a sweet sewing/embroidery book this week. It's called Embroidered Treasures for Children by Claire Garland. There are a lot of inspiring photos and darling projects in it including a vintage embroidered doll, a pocket mermaid and a dreamy fairies pillowcase and unicorn quilt. I hope to post a few projects from this book soon.

Have a great middle of the week everybody!
