The wonderful world of levitation

Captivating Cinemagraphs

Blink, blink. Moving photograph? You bet.

A cinemagraph is a clever cross breed between a photograph and video. It's not really video but arguably more mesmerizing than plain photograph.  Visual graphics artist Kevin Burg and  photographer Jamie Beck are at the forefront of this captivating art. Check out their amazing work at Cinemagraph.

If you're interested in making your own cinemagraph, check out this wonderful tutorial from Photojojo. I'd love to create a cinemagraph out of this image from my photo blog but I think it's beyond my mortal powers ;).

On recycling bottles and splashing in life's big pond

I was inspired by Sweet Paul's Crafty Friday tutorial to recycle this soy milk  into a sweet and simple vase that's great for casual table decorating.  You can make your own embellished glass vases by using washi tapes in seasonal motifs and colors. (Mental note to self: buy more washi tapes this year)

I've updated Basho's Pond (my photo blog) recently. Stay awhile to quiet your mind, splash in the pond, throw in some pebbles, create ripples and make waves. :)

Happy weekend!

My Webified Life!

Lucky Day- My Web (Click to enlarge)

Do you wonder how your Web looks like visually? Mozilla Firefox has a fun quiz called Webify Me that will create a custom mosaic of your web life after you answer 20 simple questions or so. You can click on the items on of your mosaic to reveal the pop-up results.

My webified life is the mosaic pictured above. It's a stunningly accurate representation except that I don't live in the USA nor am I Chinese (although my love for Chinese food would make me an honorary Chinese).

Take the quiz!  More of my results after the jump.

What is the color of your world?

Thanks to the lovely iHanna who posted a lovely link to The Color Of. I love the stunning interplay of layers upon layers of colors, patterns and images from Flickr. Simply key in a word and the clever web algorithm will generate a color composite. Choose the color that best matches your expectation.

So what is YOUR color of life?

Stamp Up at Rose and Lotus

Howdy do? Sorry for the long pause. I've been busy cooking up a new craft enterprise. This month I'll be opening Rose and Lotus on ETSY, a shop that will be devoted to nothing but 100% hand carved craft rubber stamps. I love collecting rubber stamps but on ETSY, it seems I can't find the designs that I really like. So I'm making my own!

There will be kawaii, zakka style and personalized custom made rubber stamps for kitchen, stationery, holiday, packaging, office and school use at wonderful, reasonable prices. Hope you bookmark the shop when it opens. See you!
