I love all the DIY projects on Handmade Charlotte, a DIY site that I consider a personal favorite. One of the cutest Christmas projects in the site is this colorful printable holiday village project that's reminiscent of Childhood drawings. Assorted recycled jam jars and bottles are utilized as props to create a wonderful Christmas village centerpiece.
See the tutorial here.

Don't throw those carton boxes just yet. You can turn them into some yummy and spicy looking Christmas tree ornaments.
DIY HOMEMADE CARDBOARD GINGERBREAD BOYS
- Corrugated cardboard recycled from carton box
- White yarn
- Gingham ribbon
- Tiny colored wooden beads
- Nylon string
- Brown and white poster paint
1. From a piece of carton cardboard, cut out several gingerbread boy shapes using a cookie cutter.
2. Paint edges of the cardboard gingerbread boys with brown poster paint for a golden brown cookie effect. Using clear all-purpose glue, outline the cardboard shapes with white yarn to create a royal icing effect. Let dry.
3. Paint details such as eyes and mouth. To dress up your gingerbread boy cookie ornament, glue button ribbon or felt embellishments. Attach a clear nylon loop on top of the ornament. Your gingerbread boy is now ready to hang on the tree!
I made some humble Gingerbread cottages using recycled corrugated cardboard packaging, sewing notions bits and bobs, felt scraps and recycled greeting cards. The outcome of which looks exceedingly sweet!
More upcycled homemade Christmas ornaments coming soon!

The most powerful storm in human history recently hit close to home, leaving island communities flattened and wiped-out. The wanton destruction and senseless suffering that Typhoon Haiyan has brought to our island nation is beyond comprehension and imagination. In a situation worse than hell, a spark of hope glimmers amidst the blinding tears. Lives will again be rebuilt and the country will soldier on, thanks to the help of the global community.
In behalf of my country men, I thank you dear international community for your kind help to our country in our darkest hour. We will never forget your kindness.
