I adore Japanese kawaii. In particular, I love the heartwarming charm of handmade dolls that are somewhat wabisabi. It's the kind of quirkiness and sense of imperfection that makes handmade things more unique. This reversible asleep/awake doll is one of the many adorable softie patterns found in the pages of "Nuiguri Style Handmade Softie," a PDF pattern ebook I bought from ETSY four years ago. I look forward to making the other softies featured in the book as soon as I have the chance.

I love everything matryoshka! After getting my crafty vibes back, the first thing I made is this cute matryoshka doll from I Think Sew. I want to share the link to the pattern but I can't find the site anymore. :(
For more matryoshka goodness, check out my archives here. There are lots of cute projects to choose from.
